The purpose of the Membership Grant program is to provide financial assistance to cities, counties, school districts, and organizations – public, private, for-profit, and non-profits that will:
Education: Develop new or improved recycling education programs that will increase youth participation in the reduction of solid waste materials; increase youth awareness about recycling/upcycling; develop green spaces on school grounds that incorporate native vegetation and equipment such as planters, picnic tables, benches, etc. made from recycled materials; develop garden spaces on school grounds that incorporate composting, organic gardening methods, recycled gardening equipment and encourage pollinators.
Downtown Beautification: Revitalize vacant downtown areas by developing community green spaces that showcase native vegetation and feature eco-friendly equipment—such as planters, picnic tables, benches, and seating made from recycled materials. These spaces will enhance beautification, support economic development, and encourage greater community engagement and enjoyment of outdoor downtown areas. Transform vacant downtown areas with community gardens that utilize composting and organic gardening methods, incorporate eco-friendly equipment – such as raised beds, planters, benches, etc. – along with flowering plant species that support pollinators, and promote both sustainability and environmental education.
